With both products already available for pre order, the off contract prices of the device, starting at $720, seems to be attracting some attention.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Carrier Prices <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Various wireless carriers have already announced their pricing throughout the US and Canada. The carrier prices are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Sprint <\/strong>will provide the Edge Plus off contract for $792 for the 32GB model, and $888 for the 64GB. The Note 5 will be offered off contract for $720 for the 32GB model, and $816 for the 64GB version. The devices will be offered at a discount on 2-year contract terms with the 32GB Edge Plus ringing in at $339, and the 64GB costing $449. The Note 5 will sell for $249 on the 32GB and $349 for the 64GB.<\/li>\n<li><strong>AT&amp;T <\/strong>is offering the devices at a slightly higher price, with the Edge Plus priced at $815 for the 32GB and $915 for the 64GB model with no contractual obligations, and the Note 5 costing $740 for 32GB and $840 for the 64GB off contract. A 2-year commitment can secure the device much cheaper, with the 32GB model Edge Plus costing $300, and the larger version 64GB costing $400. The Note 5 will sell for $250 and $350 for the two models, with a two-year contract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Devices by Comparison<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Analysts have said that the new Samsung products offer only incremental improvements over the previously released products, and both devices are incredibly similar to their predecessors, the Note 4 and the S6 Edge. The two newest devices share many features, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>7-inch display<\/li>\n<li>Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop) operating system<\/li>\n<li>Samsung Exynos 7420 Octa-core 64-bit processor<\/li>\n<li>3000 mAh battery offering 28 hours talktime<\/li>\n<li>16-megapixel rear facing camera<\/li>\n<li>5-megapixel front facing camera<\/li>\n<li>4GB of RAM<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Samsung Note 5 is intended to compete against the iPhone 6 Plus, and due to the higher cost of the curved display on the Edge Plus, Samsung will have little room for flexibility in pricing, and consumers may be more likely to opt for the more affordable device.<\/p>\n<p>The higher price point of the new devices is intended to establish the products as the high end of all smartphones, and it is thought that by introducing the devices into the high end market, it will keep them viable, interesting and important without bringing masses of consumers over to purchase.<\/p>\n<p>In light of the release of Samsung&rsquo;s two newest devices, it has been decided to postpone official announcement of the Samsung smartwatch, officially named the Gear S2, until September 2nd of this year.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Samsung Pay <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Samsung has also announced its new payment solution, Samsung Pay Mobile entered the scene on August 20th in Korea, and will be entering the scene on September 28th for U.S residents.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung Pay has been developed to work with the two latest devices and interact with in-store terminals offering users a simple, safe and widely accepted method of payment. This technology is also compatible with the Galaxy S6 and Note 4 smartphones, the first devices to be equipped with an embedded copper ring to enable such transmissions.<\/p>\n<p>Although Samsung is excited about this latest development, they are fully aware that this not the kind of feature that will necessarily draw new customers to the brand, but will be an excellent tool in customer retention and provide Samsung users with a payment solution similar to the popular iPay system.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Discover the latest and greatest smartphones that keep you on the cutting edge of technology.
